The Mid-Atlantic Writing Centers Association hosts an annual conference once a year that allows writing fellows to network with professionals and peers alike. The conference also provides opportunities for professional development.

2013 MAWCA Conference:

Last year, California University of Pennsylvania hosted MAWCA on April 5 & 6. The theme was: Writing Centers in 3D: New Dimensions in Theory, Practice, and Research. Research presentations focused on new perspectives in the dimensions of teaching and tutoring writing. York College of Pennsylvania was proud to send 8 students as representatives of our school with 6 of those students presenting their own original research in the forms of poster presentations, panels, and powerpoint presentations.

Also, students from the WRT 520: Teaching and Tutoring II class participated in a panel discussion led by Dean Dominic Dellicarpini and current Writing Center Director Cindy Crimmins. The panel discussed the creation and student pereception of the WRT 520 class, which was incorporated within the York College's curriculum for the first time in the 2013 spring semester and was the first of its kind.

Upcoming 2014 Conference:

This year will mark the 25th annual meeting of the MAWCA conference. It will be held at Salisburg University in Maryland on April 4 & 5. The theme for this year will be: Generation(s) in the Center: Meeting in the Middle.
